A cinematic ecology

When reflecting on the imaginary territories built up within the world of cinema-image and state-of-the-art immersive-images, I propose we pay special attention to three related concepts: the ‘creator’ of the images in motion (the director), the ‘imaginary’ (associated traditionally with fiction) and what we call ‘reality’ (and its relations with what is real and what is true). To discuss these three concepts according to cinematographic ecology, I will be using the film Synecdoche, New York (2008) directed by Charlie Kaufman.
