The influence of Freudian thought in today’s culture

According to the author of this article, not only did Sigmund Freud spawn psychoanalysis and psychotherapy clinic but he also opened a new way of thinking about cultural issues. His reflections on religion, sexuality, homosexuality, mental illness, mass movements and other topics related to culture, made him prominent among the thinkers of the 20th century. He quotes Foucault, who claims that the three epistemological revolutions of the 20th century are those that carry Marx, Nietzsche and Freud. Today, his ideas, even without mentioning them and without acknowledging his authorship, govern Western thought.
