This paper looks into the types of strictly medical responses that are given to depression, medicating it excessively. It highlights the current confusion among people about its nature that often includes a real hotchpotch of discomforts, symptoms and disorders. It explains the process by which many discomforts are treated strictly with psychotropic antidepressants supplied in a not very rigorous manner by healthcare professionals. This approach, in the author’s opinion, omits the social, economic and political components that are related to its production and closes doors to a broader solution of depression.
