In this article the presence of the subconscious in the popular tales is approached. Firstly, the importance of the tales in each culture and its role in the subconscious is demonstrated based on bibliography. Secondly, the theory of psychoanalysis is applied in order to explain the significance of two children’s tales, one from the Catalan tradition and another one from the Basque one. The aim is to find the impact of the culture in the subconscious and their corresponding differences and the relation with the stereotypes.
