The direction of the cure in the psychoanalytic treatment implies ethical components that are related not only to enable the desire of the patients to emerge, parallel to the construction of their phantom, in cases where it is possible and convenient, of course, but also having in account for the possible risks that arise from this route and that may lead the patient to actions or situations in which a basically healthy life system is endangered. The paradigmatic case that is described in this article tries to illustrate the iatrogenic effects that can be derived if a set of factors is not considered beyond certain methodological parameters derived from the theory.
