The high number of suicides within the “trans” group before and after the operations of “gender reassignment” are reason to review, from psychoanalysis, the relevance of this contemporary phenomenon. What reading can we make of this very high suicide rate that is usually omitted to the public opinion? To this end, it is convenient to situate the social coordinates from which the transgender phenomenon has arisen.
