Abstract

In the second part of the article (the first part was published in the previous issue of this publication), the author completes his exposition on free association and subsequently goes on to broach the subject of free floating attention, describing the metapsychological foundations of its application in the analyst and the way it operates in his mind as well as its interaction with free association in the analysand. He includes personal contributions as well as clinical vignettes that illustrate the various aspects of this subject.
