This article follows up and expands upon matters discussed at the 18th edition of the Conference for Families Affected by Mental Health Problems in Nou Barris (Barcelona). The title is «Drug Use amongst Teenagers». This is part of general program of activities entitled, «The Prevention of Mental Health Problems in Infancy, Teenagers and Young People». The program covers many areas. What factors are important as regards healthy and well-grounded growth? The first part of this work concerns teenagers studied in terms of psychological development. In the second part the relationship between teenagers and drugs is dealt with. Focusing on the special conditions encountered at this age. This is followed by a brief history of the appearance and severe evolution of drug addiction in modern Catalonia and Spain. The new and serious problems presented to society are also dicussed. Lastly reference is made to possible action as regards the services of intervention and health education in order to prevent addiction among young people.
