The psychoanalytic clinic with women subjected to abuse and sexist violence raises many questions, difficulties and uncertainties. In this article we gather some of the most frequently asked questions about the psychological characteristics of women who endure for many years relationships that entail violence and abuse. We also report the difficulties –internal and external– that put the continuity of the psychoanalytic psychotherapeutic process at risk. This process, thanks to the contemporary contributions of psychoanalysis, can reveal some uncertainties about the psychological features of the damaged subjectivity of these women.
